The Business Intelligence department is key to providing data and analytical services to Ageas Insurance Ltd (AIL) and Tesco Underwriting (TU). The team has 27 staff members based in two Ageas locations - Eastleigh & London.

We are looking for 2 BI Apprentices to join our team in Eastleigh.

Successful candidate will have an opportunity to:

 

  • Create and develop data solutions and applications using a mix of cutting edge tools and languages for customers across all areas of Ageas and our external partners
  • Operate face to face with our customers and see how your efforts have a direct impact on the business and decisions making process
  • Work with the Ageas Information Lab; the centre for Machine Learning and Data Science.

You will also be involved in and responsible for the following:

  • Under supervision, you will deliver business analytics datasets within given deadlines
  • You will gain a broad exposure of the BI landscape and be expected to rotate between functions during the first 12 months of your apprenticeship
  • As part of your development you will learn to understand underlying business problems, and to support resolving issues using commercial and business awareness
  • You will be expected to attend and complete all apprenticeship training and development courses within given timeframes
  • You will be required to gain high degree of workplace knowledge of processes and systems, and broaden your knowledge and application of data analysis and data science techniques. Your contribution will be invaluable in the continuous improvement of the data platform to deliver valuable intelligence
  • You will also be required to implement agreed controls, practices, procedures in accordance with Service Level Agreement

  • Reviewing data requirements to ensure they align to data quality standards, and produce regular reports, ad hoc tasks and investigations as required to the agreed levels of quality will form your regular responsibilities

What do we expect from you?

  • Availability for a long-term partnership with us (at least 18 months)
  • A-Levels/BTEC National Diploma
  • Passion in working with large amounts of data and analytical expertise
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Have an interest in Big Data, analytics and new technologies such as Hadoop/HIVE/spark, Machine Learning, Cognitive Computing, AI, Natural Language Processing etc.
  • Some experience of programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, JAVA or .NET
  • It is preferred, although not essential, that you can display some level of prior work experience in a related field or industry
  • And most of all, that you are dedicated, curious and self-motivated with good communication skills
