Due to Tesco Underwriting’s positive market performance and plans for growth, we are currently looking for a Planning & Performance Business Partner, based in our Finance department in the Reigate office.
The successful person will be responsible for producing insightful financial forecasts and profitability scenarios that support TU’s strategic aims. You will also identify performance opportunities and potential risks, translating these into meaningful financial outcomes and have access to stakeholders at all levels within the business, giving you the opportunity to make a difference and have your voice heard.
As a Planning & Performance Business Partner, you will need to act as a support and influencer to leaders within the business, whilst also creating productive and mutually beneficial relationships with TU’s shareholders and your counterparts at Tesco Bank and Ageas.
What makes an effective Planning & Performance Finance Business Partner:
Fully qualified accountant - CIMA / ACCA - (Tesco Underwriting is an ACCA Approved Employer)
Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in Finance for an insurance business with a proven working knowledge of profit & performance drivers;
Proven experience in a business facing role;
Ability to form own opinion of commercial risks, opportunities and solutions;
Collaborate and influence across different functions and levels to achieve the best outcome for the business;
Able to communicate complex issues simply to non-financial colleagues;
Proven experience of conducting driver based forecasts;
Analytical, methodical and thorough approach to assessing complex issues;
Ability to adapt working approach to the situation: balancing robust forecasts with a light touch approach where the situation demands a nimble response;
Demonstrates a high level of initiative and curiosity; Organised self-starter who can prioritise workload to meet deadlines without constant supervision;
Strong Excel modelling skills.
Key accountabilities of a Planning & Performance Finance Business Partner:
Management of Forecasting and Planning:
Set planning timetables and co-ordinate with business owners to deliver plans and forecasts to set deadlines;
Ensure plans reflect up to date performance issues, are robust and owned by the business;
Maintain operational planning model optimising accuracy and efficiency of processes;
Provide insight and analysis of forecasts to a range of customers including the TU Executive, shareholders and peers;
Manage the Plan Assurance process monthly, reporting on risks and opportunities against achievement of the annual Plan.
Collaborating with colleagues to produce and communicate pricing and profitability scenarios;
Provide rolling 12 month forecasts and analysis of movements into the Capital Planning process;
Act as business partner to the Claims function, providing insight into reported results and assisting forecasts and planning;
Provide profit margin analysis for use in pricing;
Provide solvency capital coverage forecasts and analysis to business stakeholders;
Manage provision of data to TU’s reinsurance broker for placement of the reinsurance programme;
Ad hoc support to the business as required.
