Job Purpose

Senior Actuarial Pricing Analyst, Eastleigh, SouthamptonIn this Senior Actuarial Pricing Analyst position you’ll be a senior member of the Actuarial team where you’ll be responsible for the production of specialist actuarial and statistical pricing analysis of underwriting performance such as Emblem analysis, and of claims performance, on our insurance products including Private Car, Van, Bike and Household. This Senior Actuarial Pricing Analyst position offers you the opportunity to explore and use new technologies and to be involved in delivering strategic change such as improving the sophistication of reports and models in order to generate profitable business growth, supporting projects, assisting in guiding data preparation, performing and reviewing actuarial modelling and interpreting results that drives high impact, intelligent pricing solutions – all things that help drive our competitive positioning. 

 

We’re seeking a commercially-focussed Senior Actuarial Pricing Analyst to work in partnership with senior stakeholders in order for them to make better informed decisions when it comes to setting pricing rates.   As a technical expert in your field, you’ll be responsible for managing, leading and developing a team of actuarial analysts and trainees to turn data into information that ultimately drives a truly value based pricing proposition. 

 

To be successful in this Senior Actuarial Pricing Analyst role you’ll need to have the following:

  1. Experience of Actuarial, pricing or statistical modelling, preferably within a regulated, multi-divisional industry. Knowledge of data science techniques would be advantageous.
  2. Expertise in understanding pricing and underwriting principles ideally within personal or commercial lines on a large business scale i.e. Ageas underwrites c. £2bn of GWPs.
  3. A degree in Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent.
  4. Specialist knowledge in statistical analysis software - Towers Watson (Emblem, Radar) and SAS.
  5. Making decisions about the production and maintenance of pricing models and evaluate and identify the profitability and price position of new and existing product propositions.
  6. Highly analytical when it comes to sophisticated analytics, statistical trends and making commercial decisions that inform business growth and assist senior management in strategic decision making.
  7. Previous experience of working in partnership with teams and senior stakeholders in order to influence, gain buy in and share knowledge with particular emphasis on being able to present difficult concepts clearly.
  8. Experience of leading, managing, developing and motivating technical actuarial or pricing teams.
