Job Purpose

Commercial Schemes Underwriter, London: Having once again been awarded the ‘ServiceMark’ accreditation by the Institute of Customer Service demonstrates the true measure of the efforts of our teams in Commercial Schemes who go above and beyond in focussing on the needs of our customers.  As the Commercial Schemes Underwriter you’ll have the opportunity of further extending our footprint in the market by leading on a number of projects that will shape the quality of our service. Some of these are niche schemes and others have a GWP value up to £100m.

 

 

The Commercial Schemes team work in partnership with clients to make the most of every scheme opportunity whether it’s working with us as a panel insurer, or on an individual basis we listen to what they need, design something to suit their needs and believe that by making the Ageas team an addition to their business, we help in making the most of this area of great potential. This means being excellent at improving the Commercial Schemes profile by partnering the business both externally and with internal stakeholders across a number of functions and UK locations.

 

To be successful in being considered for the Commercial Schemes Underwriter you need:

  • A minimum of ACII/Diploma or similar level of technical insurance qualification or actively working towards it.
  • Have great relationship management or business partnering experience. You’ll be skilful in communicating difficult messages, in negotiating and in using your technical commercial insurance expertise to bring about the best outcome for the client and the business.
  • Have great organisational skills and experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Be smart when it comes to numeracy, particularly when analysing scheme financials, underwriting and reporting data.
  • Be an expert when it comes to assessing technical risk, applying regulatory requirements within the commercial insurance sphere, or in making decisions within your authority on all aspects of the products you handle.
  • Skilled in underwriting experience in property, pecuniary and liability classes of insurance. It’s a plus if you have experience in Personal Accident, Goods in transit and Fidelity Guarantee.
  • You’ll be proficient in policy and endorsement wording reviews and have a high competency of using Excel to manipulate data that drives informed decisions.
