Job Purpose

IT Development Lead: Based at our head office in Eastleigh the IT Development Lead manages a team of IT Developers across a our UK sites to make sure the computer systems and projects are designed, implemented, supported and maintained to meet business requirements.


Here are some of the responsibilities of the IT Development Lead position;

  • Deliver IT service and support using allocated resources to ensure systems meet business requirements.
  • Deliver new software developments and technical solutions.
  • Prioritise, plan, monitor and report on allocated projects.
  • Demonstrate expert technical skills in relation to designing application architectures.
  • Develop and maintain solid industry awareness, establishing and maintaining excellent business relations with IT system end-users.
  • Manage, lead, inspire and motivate a team so that each person realises their true potential.


The skills and experience you’ll need for this IT Development Lead role are;

Team Leading: Effective management and development of back and front end developers.

Technical: Proven experience in analysis, design, and programming, including exposure to business systems and processes.

Project Management: Delivering multiple concurrent projects to budget and within timescales.

Problem Solving: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to logically approach and solve problems.

Initiative: Proven ability to solve complex queries and maintain a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly in regard to accessibility, usability and emerging technologies.

Communication: Effective communicator both verbally and in writing with the ability to explain complex IT concepts to all levels of customer.

Building Relationship: Experience stakeholder management.

Technical Skills: Proven full stack development experience, in particular in;

  • Javascript (ES2015 and newer)
  • Client side frameworks and tools
  • UI / UX development, including responsive design
  • JSON / XML
  • Web standards and building for accessibility
  • Unit testing frameworks, e.g. Jest
  • Software version control systems such as GIT, GitHub or Subversion.
