  • Job Purpose

    Team Leader – Commercial Underwriting: Ageas have once again been awarded the ‘ServiceMark’ accreditation by the Institute of Customer Service, which demonstrates the efforts our teams in Commercial Underwriting go to in order to offer a “best in class” service to our customers. Because of this, Ageas is looking to strengthen its commercial business by recruiting an enthusiastic, driven, Team Leader – Commercial Underwriting based out of our Manchester office, to lead the team and promote, with enthusiasm, new initiatives within the department.   

    As a Team Leader – Commercial Underwriting you will:

    • Lead by example, motivate and coach the team to deliver a professional and effective high performance team culture.
    • Lead the development of underwriting relationships with customers.
    • Proactively growing existing business and act on opportunities to increase revenue and profit.
    • Understand the demand into the team, what matters to our customers and use this to improve systems and processes.
    • Meet customer expectations through cost effective planning, forecasting and performance focus.
    • Monitor the capability of the team through robust Quality Monitoring in all areas to ensure compliance with Ageas governance frameworks and all Industry Regulatory requirements.
    • Undertake projects and other tasks as requested by the Operations Manager, including project management, co-ordination and communication

    The skills and experience needed to be a successful Team Leader - Commercial Underwriting:

    • Experience managing Commercial Underwriting team is desirable but not essential.
    • Great communication skills and be able to manage internal relationships and build external relationships.
    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret numerical and non-numerical data.
    • A proven record of problem solving and decisions making, together with the ability to multi task, prioritise workload and manage teams effectively.
    • Excellent organisational skills, have the ability to self-motivate and desire to learn.
    • Good keyboard skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Excellent report writing skills
    • People management skills and experience. Coaching skills, and the ability to appraise people, including absence management.
