  • Job Purpose

    Team Leader: Due to growth Ageas have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Team Leader to join our Underwriting Insurance Service Team in Eastleigh. Our Personal Lines Underwriting Service (PLUS) department is responsible for providing support for Underwriting and Claims referrals and processing provision to Ageas customers including Broke base and Affinity Insurance policyholders. The department also handle processes and referrals on selected intermediaries who have fully delegated authority to sell and administer Ageas policies.

      

    As a Team Leader you will manage all aspects of customer service and delivery of KPIs within the department you will produce timely, accurate reports on all aspects of workflow and department performance. In addition you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of full training, coaching and development of the department as well as conducting team 1-2-1s, annual and half yearly performance reviews with all members of your team.

     

    Main responsibilities as a Team Leader will include but are not limited to:

    • Plan and prioritise workflow ensuring work targets and service standards are met.
    • Undertake regular reviews and audits of staff's performance identifying areas for development and improvement.
    • Underwrite personal lines business within defined authority limits and in line with underwriting best practice and company strategy.
    • Enhance and develop broker relationships in order to maximise business opportunities ensuring a regular dialogue through telephone contact and when required, by face to face review meetings.
    • Undertake general underwriting activities, dealing with Broker's queries and correspondence.
    • Deal with complex risks referred by Claims handlers/Fraud team members on matters of policy cover interpretation including those resulting in avoidance of cover and retrospective underwriting.
    • Manage processes to best effect driving best practice and minimising demand failure.

    Key to your success in this Team Leader role is your experience in:

    • Knowledge of Household and Motor Insurance Principles and Practices. Experience of underwriting processes and an understanding on the Personal Lines Underwriting support working processes are essential.
    • Working knowledge and practice of Excel and Word.
    • Experience of Team Management including: appraisals, performance management, training and development, coaching and motivational skills.
    • Proven record of problem solving and decision making with ability to multi-task, prioritise workload and manage teams effectively.
    • Effective communicator both verbally and in writing.
    • Good standard of education (4 GCSE's grade C or above) or equivalent, including Maths.
