  • Job Purpose

    IT Support Technician: As an IT Support Technician at Ageas, analytical and problem-solving skills play an active part in our IT team in identifying, communicating and resolving issues.


    Accountable for the delivery of 2nd line IT Operations support to all Ageas locations, our IT Support Technicians play a vital role in ensuring the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core business services.

    This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all networked software, hardware and associated desktop operating systems.


    Accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

    • Ensure implementation of appropriate technical methodology, within agreed expense budgets.
    • Identify opportunities to increase operating efficiencies and profitability.
    • Ensure appropriate arrangements are in place to ensure business continuity within the department in the event of an unforeseen interruption.
    • Design and perform desktop and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes.
    • Work with Ageas IT staff members, decision makers, and stakeholders to identify and resolve business systems issues.
    • Collaborate with IT staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation and deployment of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
    • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
    • Manage incident and request escalations through to resolution, including root-cause analysis and remediation, with the aim of reducing overall service record volumes.
    • Recommend, schedule and (where appropriate) apply fixes and security patches, and any other measures required to avoid a security breach.


    Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

    • Proven experience with systems deployments, security principles, and general software and hardware management best practices.
    • Extensive experience and knowledge with core software applications, including Active Directory, Windows Desktop operating systems, system monitoring and TCP/IP (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SMTP, Telnet, ICMP etc.).
    • Excellent software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
    • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
    • Practical, working knowledge of ITIL frameworks.
    • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
    • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
    • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
    • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    • Experienced in Asset management suites.
