    Senior Actuarial Analyst Ageas are seeking a highly motivated Senior Actuarial Analyst or Actuarial Manager to join the dynamic commercial actuarial team, based in our Head Office in Eastleigh. You will play a leading role in the team and assist in delivering data-driven analysis, performing and reviewing actuarial modelling and interpreting and presenting results to help create high impact, intelligent solutions which help to drive Ageas’ commercial business forward.


    As a Senior Actuarial Analyst in the commercial insurance team, you have the opportunity to make a difference in a number of areas of the commercial business, including pricing reviews, quarterly reserving, account performance assessment and internal data analysis. As a senior member of the Actuarial Team the role requires a high degree of competence and specialist knowledge to ensure the Actuarial Department continues to meet the expectations of Senior Management.

    Your main responsibilities as an Actuarial Manager/Senior Actuarial Analyst are:

    • Model, interpret and monitor business data to identify and confirm market trends, niche product opportunities and new/changing rating factors. Make recommendations to Underwriters and senior management based on analysis.
    • Carry out and oversee elements of the quarterly and monthly reserve review exercises carried out across the team, as well as additional claims related analyses.
    • Conduct and oversee regular and ad hoc pricing analyses to support Underwriting teams, and directly communicating results and their implications.
    • Supervision of junior analysts within the team, overseeing/reviewing work and managing workloads. Line management opportunities are available.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of effective statistical models and MI in relation to the company's underwriting performance and pricing strength.
    • Provide professional actuarial input in the development and launch of new products.
    • Liaise directly with stakeholders, in particular Underwriting, Finance and Claims teams.
    • To support the Heads of Actuarial and Chief Actuary as appropriate.

    To be successful in this Actuarial Manager/Senior Actuarial Analyst role you will have the following skills and experience:

    • Ability to prioritise work, be a confident decision maker, proactive and innovative.
    • A good working knowledge of the commercial lines market.
    • A sound understanding of reserving and pricing analysis and principles & experience of a wide range of technical issues.
    • Strong IT skills and in-depth experience of Excel and working knowledge of SAS is essential. Additional IT skills (Python, R) may be beneficial
    • A high level of understanding of modern actuarial and statistical modelling and techniques is essential.
    • A flair for manipulating and interpreting data and making decisions or recommendations as appropriate is essential.
    • Excellent skills in explaining, both internally and externally to key business partners, pricing decisions based on detailed analysis.
    • Flexibility to adopt appropriate behaviour given the situation, acts with integrity, openness and honesty, positive and enthusiastic.
    • Able to work with people at all levels, both internally and externally. The ability to support other members of the team and foster good working relationships internally and externally. Demonstrates timely and open communication and is diplomatic when dealing with others.
    • Ability to lead by example, maintain a visible leadership presence, experience of managing and addressing performance consistently and ability to delegate effectively ensuring appropriate participation and support. An ability to mentor coach and develop less experienced members of the team.
